The Circle of Security® is an innovative intervention program designed to improve the developmental pathway of children and their parents. It is a video-based intervention that strengthens parents’ abilities to observe and improve their caregiving skills.
Through the Circle of Security®, attachment theory offers clear, individualized pathways for providing a secure relationship between parent and child.

Every child comes into the world seeking a secure relationship with their caregivers. The Circle of Security® program helps promote that security. A secure attachment between child and caregiver is critical to a child’s current and future well-being. University-based research has shown that secure children have increased empathy, greater self-esteem, better relationships with parents and peers, enter school more ready to learn, and handle their emotions better than their less secure peers. As they grow older, secure children become less likely to live in poverty, have legal problems, or experience chronic emotional difficulties.

COSP is offered in an 8 week group discussion format using video to view examples of parent child relationships followed with a discussion.  Each week builds upon the other with the goal to teaching the importance of human connection for a child and helping caregivers orient to young children’s attachment needs.  We ask that parents miss no more than 1 session since the program builds on concepts from week to week.

The COSP program is facilitated by Rachael White-Simard, a Marriage & Family Therapist.  She has been working in the field of family support for the past 3 decades, as well as parenting her own children.  She lives in La Broquerie, Manitoba and works one day a week in the Winkler area
providing individual, couple and family therapy services. She is excited to meet new parents on their way to building stronger attachments with their children.

This is an adult program, but childcare is provided.

A small snack will be available for the children but please bring a water bottle. For the adults there will be coffee and tea as well as some snacks.
