The Winkler Imagination Library is an early childhood education initiative, which provides books to children, from birth to age five, free of charge. Please note it can take up 6 months to receive you first book.
Once enrolled the child will receive a new, age-appropriate book, delivered in their name, to their home once monthly until their fifth birthday.
Originally started by Dolly Parton, the program’s vision is to get children excited about books and reading and to ensure that every child has books in their home, regardless of family income.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a 60 volume set of books – arriving in the mail directly to your home. There is no cost involved or any obligation – it is a FREE GIFT!
The Winkler Imagination Library Committee was deeply saddened to hear of the loss of Dolly Parton on August 25, 2026. Two members of the committee, Dorothy Derksen and Debbie Doell had the privilege of meeting Dolly Parton face to face when she was in Winnipeg for a concert. Dolly thanked them for their work in providing the Imagination Library in our area.
The legacy of Dolly Parton and her Imagination Library will not end with her death. The Dollywood Foundation has assured all local Imagination Library chapters that her legacy will continue through their work. They ask that in memory of Dolly, donations be made to your local Imagination Library, to help continue the work that was so dear to Dolly’s heart.

Please make sure to designate your donation for the Imagination Library and include your name and email or physical address if you would like to receive a tax receipt for donations over $25.
